Auto Glass in Johnston County and Eastern Wake, NC

Auto Glass Raleigh is the mobile service of Impex Auto Glass for Raleigh and the country to its east and south-east. Impex is based in Greensboro, with a second shop in Charlotte, and keeps no shop in Johnston County or eastern Wake. Instead, a technician brings the glass to your home, farm, workplace or parking lot. This page lists the towns this site covers, the roads that connect them, and what the technician needs wherever you are.

Raleigh itself is covered too, mainly the east side where US 64, US 264 and I-87 head out of the city and where US 70 runs south-east toward Garner. The homepage covers auto glass replacement across Raleigh; the town pages above go into the local detail.

Smithfield and Selma

The two towns sit either side of I-95 on US 70 in Johnston County. US 70 runs north-west toward Raleigh, and where it meets I-40 at the end of the first phase of Complete 540, NCDOT labels the corridor future I-42. That phase, about 18 miles of new toll road, opened on September 25, 2024. Commuters, interstate trucks and farm traffic all share these roads. The Smithfield page walks through the replacement visit step by step, and the Selma page covers getting the right glass for your trim and NC tint rules.

Benson and Four Oaks

Further south on I-95 sit Four Oaks and Benson, close to the junction where I-40 meets I-95 at Exit 81. That junction is the north end of NCDOT’s project to widen I-95 from four lanes to eight over 26 miles, south to Murphy Road at Exit 55 in Cumberland County, under way since 2019. The Benson page covers every kind of glass, door and back glass included, and work trucks and fleets.

Zebulon

Zebulon is at the eastern edge of Wake County on US 64 and US 264. Toward Raleigh the route becomes I-87, which runs 12.9 miles from Wendell to Raleigh, most of it the Knightdale Bypass, and Complete 540’s second phase is being built toward Knightdale, with completion scheduled for 2028. The Zebulon page walks through a glass claim from start to finish.

The same rules in every town

North Carolina’s glass rules do not change from Smithfield to Zebulon. The annual safety inspection under G.S. 20-183.3 checks the windshield wipers, not the glass, and no NC statute sets a crack size; a crack in your line of sight is still a safety problem. G.S. 20-135 requires safety glass wherever glass is used in the doors, windows and windshield of an NC-registered vehicle. Window tint has not been part of the inspection since December 1, 2025, under Session Law 2025-47, but the tint limits in G.S. 20-127 still apply on the road.

Insurance works the same way everywhere in the state, too. Comprehensive coverage normally pays for broken glass, less your deductible, and North Carolina has no law waiving that deductible for glass. Under G.S. 58-3-180 you choose who does the work, wherever you live, and the insurer pays the same amount whichever company you choose.

What the technician needs, wherever you are

  • A firm, level place to park, with room to open both front doors.
  • Dry glass: a garage, carport, shed or barn bay if rain is due.
  • Permission and access on a lot or job site you do not control.
  • The vehicle’s year, make, model and VIN, so Impex can confirm the glass before the visit.
  • Your insurer and policy number if you are claiming.

If you are outside the towns listed, ask anyway. Impex provides mobile service across North Carolina, and the quote form or a phone call is the quickest way to find out when the technician can reach you. For pricing, see the windshield replacement cost page.

Anywhere from Zebulon to Benson: call Impex Auto Glass or send the form and we will come to the vehicle.
